The goal of the current study is to uncover the mechanisms for how and why parental involvement promotes children’s competence in academic and social-emotional dimensions. I will examine how the dynamics between parents’ psychological resources, parental involvement, children’s emotional and cognitive regulation, and children’s social-emotional competence (rated by teachers) and their academic competence (STAR test score—ELA and MATH score-- will be used to constitute academic competence construct) among US mothers.
