Fri, April 4, 2:15 to 3:45pm, Convention Center, Floor: 200 Level, Hall E

Abstract

In the past decade, there have been sweeping changes in the use of technology as a means of course delivery. It has been difficult for much of the professoriate to accept or stay up with rapidly developing changes in teaching and learning using online environments. Social and educational demands are prompting institutions to provide faculty with online professional development. An online course was offered to university faculty in order to model and to provide support and understanding of essential elements for effective online instruction. Findings show that faculty who were ready to move forward benefitted most from this opportunity. The effective practices modeled in the online course were utilized in the courses developed by participating faculty.
