Confirmatory Factor Analysis of the Holistic Wellness Assessment

Sat, April 5, 8:15 to 9:45am, Convention Center, Floor: Terrace Level, Terrace IV

Abstract

Since the conception of wellness by researchers and clinicians, different disciplines have created discipline-specific definitions, models and assessment instruments to utilize this construct in theory, research and the clinic. The objective of this research was to validate the factorial structure of the Holistic Wellness Assessment (HWA) using a confirmatory factor analysis (CFA). One thousand ninety two university students completed the online Holistic Wellness Assessment (HWA). Individual scale CFA models were estimated followed by a full HWA model CFA. Results indicate that the hypothesized eight scales conform to individual congeneric models and the complete HWA model shows strong model-data congruence. The HWA is a psychometrically and theoretically sound assessment for measuring the interdisciplinary nature of wellness.
