This study used consensual qualitative research to expand knowledge on contextual and cultural effects on exploration processes during emerging adulthood. Participants were 36 Israeli young adults aged 20-30 (16 were Arab and 20 were Jewish). Interviews took 60-90 minutes and they were analyzed by Jewish and Arab researchers using an adaptation of the CQR method. Three categories emerged reflecting the three main questions guiding this study: areas of exploration, modes of exploration and cultural and contextual effects. Results support the claim for cultural and contextual influences on areas and modes of exploration, and highlight the need for enhanced cultural sensitivity when counseling young adults involved in exploration.
