This conceptual paper argues that better understanding the nature and roles of “intangible” or “tacit” knowledges core for success in life is crucial for advancing effective and forward-thinking notions of educational change. We propose, and then define, “intangible knowledge” as it has been explored in previous research spanning multiple disciplines (e.g., tacit knowledge). Within this context, we then examine the ways that educational change has been described vis a vis organizations, systems, and values. From this, we develop an Intangibles Framework for exploring the interplay of educational change and intangibles within specific contexts. We explore the ways that this framework might be applied to current and pressing learning scenarios in the continuum of PK-20 education.
