The purpose of this study was to examine the intersections of race/ethnicity, income and language to parent empowerment using data from the Parent and Family Involvement Survey (PIF) of the National Household Education Surveys 2007 (PIF-NHES: 2007). In this study, parent empowerment used the concept developed by Kim (2012). In the study, this first attempt at analyzing intersectionality in the context of parent empowerment may provide some guidance for future researchers in addressing the complex nature of intersecting identities.
Moreover, the results are significant in that they provide empirical information for school counselors, teachers, administrators and counselors for working with parents.
