Abstract

Four teacher educators present self-studies documenting their individual journeys in learning to integrate Edmodo, a private online social platform specifically for teachers and students to share ideas, files, events and assignments based on a microblogging ‘Facebook-like’ model, into their education courses. Sharing a strong commitment to relationship-based practice, inquiry, reflection and education for social justice, they examined if and how digital technologies could be used in their courses in ways that allowed them to maintain their core values and strengthen their teaching practice. The paper outlines four distinct narratives with the individual constraints and affordances they experienced, practical insights from their lessons learned and theoretical implications for maintaining a principled practice in a digital age.
