Fri, April 4, 10:35am to 12:05pm, Convention Center, Floor: Terrace Level, Terrace IV

Abstract

In this paper I draw on the experiences of 49 first-generation college students who served as mentors in a total of 19 Title I high schools in the Southwest U.S. to describe what a culturally diverse group of first-generation college students believe are the key components ‘college readiness’ and what can be done to further support minority students’ efforts in their pathway towards a postsecondary education.
