In this paper, we discuss the design of e-TPCK, an adaptive e-learning environment for the development of technological pedagogical content knowledge (TPCK). TPCK is defined as a unique body of knowledge that teachers need to develop in order to be able to teach adequately with technology. e-TPCK combines two opposing trends in adapting instruction, namely instruction that is both controlled by the learner and the system in order to provide a personalized experience to the user. In this study, we introduce e-TPCK and present findings regarding the design of the e-learning system as it was evaluated by 53 pre-service teachers. Future research directions are also discussed.
