Abstract

This paper presents findings from an exploratory case study of principals’ perceptions about potential and readiness for the principalship. Aiming to explain what counts as potential and readiness for the principalship, this paper highlights how principals assess these phenomena and how they work to develop them in assistant principals. This paper has implications for district administrators and aspirants to the principalship.
