Reconceptualizing Re/flection: Curriculum, Subjectivities, and Re/search

Sun, April 6, 2:15 to 3:45pm, Convention Center, Floor: Terrace Level, Terrace IV

Abstract

In this presentation, I examine the edTPA as a standardized model of reflective practice. Focusing on the epistemological constitution of reflection as it relates to the test, as well as how this epistemic framing gets taken up methodologically, I seek to better understand the ways in which the edTPA represents a curriculum of mastery. Specifically, I aim to uncover how standardization operates to concretize “reflection” as an object to be produced by teacher education students and subsequently consumed by evaluators.
