While the tension, that teachers must integrate technological literacies into classroom teaching to cater to the needs of today’s digital generation, is increasing as given by societal discourses, it is of great pedagogical value to learn from the wisdom of practice to understand students’ digital texts creations. This paper presents a case study of how four 2nd graders in a public school composed video stories within school curricula. Further, the study uses multimodal analysis to examine ways of engagement in students’ digital texts as well as the social worlds connected to their writing experiences. This study proposes that digital literacies offer opportunities for differentiated teaching, providing students with new learning spaces for constantly (re)appropriating, (re)designing, and (re)mixing their original stories.
