This mixed methods study utilizing online survey and individual interviews to explore faculty members’ experiences of cyberbullying by students at a Canadian University, found that cyberbullying was most commonly encountered via email, online faculty polling sites, and end-of-term evaluation. Further, victims were mostly female, greater than 40 years of age, English speaking, and of full time rank. Consistent with prior workplace bullying and cyberbullying studies, participants also experienced detrimental effects, ranging from a few days to more than one year. Respondents identified both the support measures that were sought and needed by victims. The study findings provide specific recommendations for the development of policy and practices for cyberbullying prevention, intervention, and response for institutions.
