This paper introduces gamification as an innovative approach to alleviate problems concerning learning and working motivation. A design-based research study is conducted in the field of intralogistics to investigate the phenomenon of gamification in a field concerning manual labor and involving insufficiently stimulating tasks. A qualitative feasibility study marks the first step of this process and will be the focus of this paper. Results show that staff in intralogistics is motivated by receiving recognition and feedback on job performance. The training phase for new employees is insufficiently structured and leads to excessive demands and stress. Gamification has got high potential to foster motivation and to structure the training phase of new employees.
