Using Log Data to Get a Closer Look at the Implementation and Evaluation of Coaching

Abstract

The paper examines coach log data from a multi-site randomized field trial conducted as a partnership among the Children’s Literacy Initiative, four large urban school districts, and an external research organization. The paper demonstrates how such coach log data 1) help understand the extent to which coaching services were provided in accordance with the specifications of a program; and 2) can be used to explore the ways future coach logs could be enhanced and used to better understand and evaluate coaching programs.
