Abstract

Research productivity and collaborations are important to many involved in academia. Publishing success often is heavily considered for promotion, tenure, compensation, and other merit decisions. Social network analysis (SNA) offers a useful methodology for evaluating research networks, including research productivity and collaborations. The purpose of this research is to present a primer of SNA and demonstrate how SNA can be useful for discerning faculty research productivity and collaborations in highly integrated and complex research networks.
