The purpose of our study was to understand more about the ways in which a teacher experienced the tools as a resource to support his approaches to scaffolding student inquiry in SSI. More specifically, we wanted to know how a teacher used the tools to plan and implement instruction with his 9th grade biology classes. Understanding more about his type of use both informs future iterations of the tools as well as the needs of teachers when involving their student in problem solving environments that require advanced and complex reasoning.
