The United States: The Most Fertile Ground for Homeschooling

Abstract

Today, the country where homeschooling is most widely practiced is the USA. There must be certain dynamics in American society that contribute to the prevalence of homeschooling. This educational phenomenon will be analyzed through the lens of sociology to achieve a historical, contextual, and theoretical perspective of the linkage between the settings of American society and the convenience of homeschooling. One of the arguments of this paper is that the emergence and practice of homeschooling in the USA provides an example through which a better understanding of the influence of social and historical contexts on educational policies can be reached.
