Over the past twenty-five years, researchers and organizations have sought to identify those factors that put students at risk of dropping out of high school. The research indicates that dropout risk factors are many and are multifaceted. As we become familiar with dropout risk factors, we also need to determine the best solutions to overcome each risk factor. This study will employ a rigorous meta-analytic approach to determine an overall effect size of dropout prevention programs on dropout and graduation rate and will examine the impact of research-based program characteristics and strategies on dropout and graduation rates.
