This study aimed to investigate the structural relationships among conditional regard (CR) from current teacher and student's GPA mediated by resentment toward teacher. A sample of 232 Chinese and 235 US college students completed measures of CR (emotional control domain), the feeling of resentment toward the current teacher, and GPA. Results were consistent with the previous studies, which found that CR predicted feeling of resentment toward the current teacher, which then predicted low GPA. To conduct cross cultural comparison, we used Structural Equation Modeling (SEM). In China, the relationship between CR and GPA was partially mediated by the feeling of resentment toward the current teacher.
