As an art educator, both engaging in the creative process and watching others create over the years has impelled me to consider how individuals conceive of creativity, and more importantly, how they see themselves as creative beings. In this paper, I explore and present student narratives focused on creativity that emerged through visual journaling and reflection in a transdisciplinary design studio. I consider the research question: How do students perceive of and narrate their creative processes through visual and verbal expression? Using a visual-verbal narrative analysis approach, I explore and construct a narrative of student lived experience which embraces the complexities of narrative as revealed and generated through image, text, and the space between.
