Examining Teachers’ Use of iPads: Comfort Level, Perception, and Use

Mon, April 7, 2:15 to 3:45pm, Convention Center, Floor: Terrace Level, Terrace IV

Abstract

In this study, we examined the comfort level with and perception toward iPad use by a group of 342 teachers across various subject matter and school levels, who were given an iPad by their school district and investigate any changes over the implementation year and how these teachers used iPads in their teaching. The results showed teachers’ comfort level and perception increased significantly from mid-year to the end-year. The differences in comfort and perception appeared to be in school levels and years of teaching, not in gender. High school teachers’ perception, though increased, was the lowest overall. Qualitative analyses revealed diverse ways of using iPads to support instruction by the teachers.
