The ARTHUR Interactive Media Study (AIMS) seeks to promote character development and prosocial behavior through a cross-age Buddies Program and interactive stories based on the ARTHUR television show. By assessing the influence of interactive technology and collaborative learning in promoting character development and prosocial behaviors, AIMS—a joint research project of youth development researchers and children media experts—explores how this type of intervention could be used as part of a character education program to promote prosocial behaviors and reduce teasing, exclusion, and bullying. The present study presents an overview of AIMS and the results of a pilot study that was conducted in several school districts.
