This study looks at the effect of removing partial CR scores from the anchor in equating CR or mixed-format tests. The difficulty levels of CR anchor items could change due to exposure, curriculum change, or rater shift. This change can be limited to a particular score category depending on the setup of the scoring rubrics. With CR items contributing more points to an anchor, it might be beneficial to an equating if only the partial score categories in question can be removed instead of the whole CR items. This study will examine a possible way to break the CR category scores into separate units and evaluate the effect of removing partial CR scores from the anchor on equating results.
