In this paper, the authors examine data drawn from six graduate courses to uncover information about note revising behavior among students enrolled in discussion-centered online courses. Results suggest that, on average, students tend to revise about 20% of their notes, the majority of which contain 2 to 3 revisions. A closer analysis of one of these courses suggests that more than two thirds of revisions tend to focus on discussion notes, rather than social or assignment-related notes. Results also suggest that revised notes tend to be lengthier, contain more academic words, and more links to others’ notes. Furthermore, revised notes tend to attract more readers.
