Within the broad movement of Mind, Brain, and Education, the field of educational neuroscience is emerging. One goal of educational neuroscience is to utilize intersections between biology, developmental psychology, cognitive psychology, and education to ground the teaching and learning process within transdisciplinary research (Fisher, Goswami, & Geake, 2010). Further, another goal of educational neuroscience is to inform the multifaceted translation between “the science of neuroscience to the art of teaching within a new, transdisciplinary science of learning” (Coch & Ansari, 2012). A framework for contemplating how neuroscientific findings could translate into more effective classroom practice needs to be explored. This review provides insight into how transdisciplinary fields are currently informing each other, and explores implications for teacher education programs.
