Having accurate and critical information about the academic achievement data of African American and Latino girls, at the elementary level in reading, mathematics and science is necessary as they represent almost 25% of the school age population.The purpose of this study is to: (a) discuss the TAKS and STAAR test; (b) share a critical analysis of the TAKS and STARR by race/ethnicity, SES and gender and to analyze the findings by grade level and subject matter content and objectives for American and Latino girls in grades 3-5; and (c) critically analyze the findings through the lens of critical race theory and critical race feminism.
