Graduate Student Parents: Finding Support on and off Campus

Sun, April 6, 8:15 to 9:45am, Marriott, Floor: Fourth Level, 408

Abstract

This qualitative study explores the experiences of 18 parents enrolled in higher education and student affairs graduate programs to understand how various sources of support facilitate or hinder student success. While the literature has underscored the importance of faculty and peer support, findings from this study suggest that support from partners and other family members prove to be most critical in helping students navigate their academic and familial responsibilities.
