Neuroscience Opens New Avenues Toward Understanding the Relationship Between Attention and Dyslexia

Abstract

Prevalent neurological theories regarding causality of dyslexia focus on attentional dysfunction as a core deficit, leading to impairment in orthographic and phonological processing. This theoretical paper seeks to integrate neurological research to construct understanding of how attention impacts phonological processing, which is a common core deficit in developmental dyslexia.
