Examining the Placement of Principal Preparation Program Candidates Into Education Positions: A 20-Year Analysis

Abstract

A number of critiques have been levied against principal preparation programs in general and university-based programs in particular. One critique is that such programs have low placement rates. This study uses 20 years of longitudinal data from Texas to examine placement rates into multiple education positions. Further, the study examines personal and program characteristics associated with placement into these various positions.
