Research Brokering in Education: Innovative Dissemination Strategies for School Improvement in Public Education Systems

Mon, April 7, 2:15 to 3:45pm, Convention Center, Floor: 100 Level, 115C

Abstract

An emerging field of inquiry has arisen in order to address the oft-cited gaps between research, policy and practice called knowledge mobilization (KMb) in education. For the purposes of this study, KMb includes efforts to increase the use of research evidence in policy and practice in education. Research brokering organizations (RBOs) are third party, intermediary organizations whose active role between research producers and users is a catalyst for research use in education. This paper reports on a cross-case analysis of 44 RBOs across Canada, with a special focus on the innovative dissemination strategies that are being used to address research-practice-policy gaps through various evidence-based school improvement initiatives.
