The factorial structure underlying different types of linguistic processing tasks within the domain of linguistic awareness was examined in the proposed study. Students with reading disabilities were tested with a battery of phonological awareness tasks as well as orthographical and morphological awareness tasks developed by researchers. Three basic components were extracted in a principal component analysis: phonological factor, orthographical factor, and morphological factor. The results indicated there was considerable dissociation between performance on phonological awareness, orthographic, and morphological awareness tasks.
