Abstract

This documentary account provides a retrospective reflection of the experiences of a novice documentary filmmaker, via the oral history lens. What began as a personal project to refine and apply camera and editing skills acquired at a documentary boot-camp course, morphed into a journey of personal and professional learning. The inadvertent discovery of parallels between the visual story of an immigrant’s newcomer experience and the oral history methodology are described.
