Latina Resiliency: In Pursuit of STEM Careers

Abstract

This study makes a case for the importance of not only learning from successful people, specifically Latinas, but to uncover the resiliency, its parts, and the making of unique factors that contribute to resiliency on an individual basis. We are conducting an ongoing transnational study that investigates the resilience of Latinas who, on a daily basis, struggle to maintain a sense of balance between their professional aspirations in the STEM fields, and the slew of contexts within which their lives are enacted. These contexts include community, education, family, gender, and more that serve as components in the identity and preservation of self.
