This paper presents the results of a small scale mixed method study at the University of Ottawa that brings a deeper understanding of how "Visa 101" students, international students graduated from an Ontario secondary school, experience the transition to university and their social and academic integration. These students must overcome different challenges than international students arriving from abroad and those experienced by traditional domestic students. Student services and academics alike are ill-prepared to meet the needs of students who do not "easily" fit preconceived notions of domestic and international students.
