This case study on faculty governance in a university contexts, calls for a review of the role of research on our capacities to be successful educators in rapidly changing times. Focusing on two critical incidents in university decision making, and the role of active faculty governance structures in successfully challenging these decisions, this paper draws attention to the impact of neoliberalism and corporatization on democratic decision making processes. Emerging from an autoethnographic perspective of authors actively involved in faculty governance, this paper serves as a call to all educational researchers to integrate their skills as scholars to their everyday roles as faculty members, actively involved in the decisions that govern their work in the academy.
