Measuring Schools as Learning Organizations

• In Event: Assessing the Influences of District and School-Level Factors on Teaching and Learning

Abstract

Based on Watkins and Marsick’s (1993, 1996) theoretical framework on learning organizations, the study proposed to examine the applicability of the instrument, Dimensions of the Learning Organization Questionnaire (DLOQ), in the school context. A sample of three hundred and twenty two teachers and professional staff completed the DLOQ questionnaire. Confirmatory factor analysis was used to analyze the dimensional structures of the learning organization construct. Structural equation modeling was used to analyze the relationship between dimensions of the learning organization and the organizational outcomes. Results have practical implications to schools in collecting data for their ongoing evaluations to improve performance.
