In Event: Impact of Career and Technical Education on Student Experiences and Postsecondary Outcomes
We explored the relationship between Career and Technical Education (CTE) and dropping out from high school. For that purpose, we used a typology of CTE based on the number of CTE credits taken as part of the overall high school experience. Using Cox regression for our survival analysis, our findings indicate students who have taken three or more CTE credits, whether they specialized or not in an occupational area, were less likely to drop out of high school than those taking less than three CTE credits. This study was conducted using restricted data from the Education Longitudinal Study of 2002.
