This paper looks at Distributed leadership program implementations across schooling types and distills principles for guiding future implementation efforts.
The significance of this work includes the observation that the body of this research captures a spectrum of implementation efforts of DL theory in urban contexts. Therefore, this work may richly inform specific systems’ efforts for educational innovation in leading restructuring and reculturing efforts in their schools. Furthermore, in that DL theory is aligned well with innovation literatures in other arenas of leadership practice, and is concurrently so deeply vested in education practice, it may offer a robust means for cross-comparison and the exploring of interconnections in leadership practice between education and other arenas where teaching and learning are similarly valued.
