This case study investigated the use of computer simulation on students’ making sense of abstract science concepts in argumentation-based activities. 11th grade students were selected to use a “Gas Properties” computer simulation and learning environment was designed to observe the group and classroom discussions lasted four class periods in each class. This paper focused on the discussions about the behavior of gas molecules in floating and not floating balloons in the third class period. I transcribed the classroom interactions to identify meaningful discourses among the students. The research results were presented with providing examples from the classroom discussions. The results depicted that the use of computer simulation supported students’ making sense of abstract concepts and their explanations in scientific argumentation.
