Claiming Unclaimed Spaces: Virtual Spaces for Learning

Thu, April 3, 2:15 to 3:45pm, Convention Center, Floor: 200 Level, Hall E

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to describe and examine the environments used by teacher candidates using multi-user virtual environments (MUVE). Case study methodology was employed, using multiple data sources including interviews, surveys, observations, snapshots, course artifacts, and the primary researcher’s journal. All data were coded and reviewed iteratively to inductively deduce the key design considerations for virtual world environmental design. The data indicated five assertions to help guide the development of virtual learning environments.
