Utilizing the literature on campus climate, campus racial climate, and institutional diversity as a framework, this paper examines the organizational racial campus climate of Mid-Atlantic University (MAU) and offers a case study of the development, implementation and assessment of a strategic campus diversity plan. A case study approach was used and was informed by interviews (N=17) that were conducted with the deans, executive directors, and vice presidents of campus units and colleges. Additionally, institutionally held and nationally reported student, faculty, and staff data were examined. By analyzing data from multiple sources, a robust and multidimensional picture of MAU emerged. Findings revealed that both modest and statistically significant gains were made in increasing diversity and making the campus more welcoming.
