In the present study, we took a person-centered approach (latent class analysis) to identify subgroups of Korean secondary school teachers who have similar profiles in terms of achievement goals for teaching and their teaching practices in creating classroom goal structure. We also examined how the subgroups differ in important teaching-related beliefs (i.e., teachers’ sense of efficacy, implicit theories of intelligence, perception of school goal structure). The person-centered approach is particularly relevant for examining patterns and characteristics of teachers’ multiple goal pursuit. The latent class analysis revealed that the model with four different latent classes were most optimal. There were significant differences in teacher efficacy and beliefs about student intelligence among the four latent classes.
