Finding Their Way: The Role of Peers as Connectors, Partners, and Role Models in Postsecondary Education

Abstract

Utilizing Bronfenbrenner’s (1994) ecological model of development as a framework, we analyze the role of peers as connectors in an array of microsystems within a student’s postsecondary experiences and daily interactions. We draw from interviews with students from across four colleges and nine universities in Ontario, Canada and present critical implications for practice.
