Digital Games and the Learning Process: Integrating Games in the Classroom

Abstract

The use of digital games as an instructional tool has garnered increasing attention from educational researchers, teachers, and policy makers. Research into the viability of digital games to serve as learning environments, stems from the high levels of engagement and motivation found during gameplay. This has lead to increasing amount of research into the design and development of games for learning, and the use of commercial off-the-shelf games in the classroom. The purpose of this study is to conduct an investigation into the best practices associated with integrating digital games for learning within the classroom.
