Abstract

Even as school districts across the country are being called upon to prepare students to emerge from high school “college ready,” Black and Latina/o youth are experiencing limited access to post-secondary educational opportunities. This paper presents the findings of qualitative research study that engages a youth co-researcher methodology to examine how and why 10 Black and Latina/o first generation college applicants who experience limited access to information about preparing for and applying to college seek out from and/or share such information with their peers.
