This study investigates the facilitators and inhibitors of the movement of secondary English teachers' reading and writing practices across curricular boundaries. Relying on a statewide survey of high school English teachers as well as multiple descriptive case studies, the findings suggest that there may be real pedagogical value in teachers' extracurricular literacies not interfacing with their literacy instruction.
