Teacher preparation programs are moving towards more collaborative forms of student teaching, principally coteaching between a mentor and an intern (Bacharach, Heck, & Dahlberg, 2010). Coteaching between a mentor and intern during the student teaching experience has many perceived benefits such as providing two different perspectives in the classroom, lower teacher-student ratio, and professional development opportunities for both the intern and mentor. This qualitative study investigated opportunities for intern and mentor learning through coteaching in an elementary classroom.
