Predicting Preservice Elementary Teachers’ Epistemological Beliefs About Science With Their Conceptions of Teaching Science

Abstract

Previous studies investigated the relationships between epistemological beliefs and teaching conceptions. Unfortunately, all of them examined the relationships without focusing on a particular domain and labelled teaching conceptions only as traditional versus constructivist. Thus, this study investigated 157 student teachers’ four epistemological beliefs and five conceptions of teaching in addition to their relationships in the domain of science in a non-Western country.
