Abstract

The New Zealand Strengthening In-Service Teacher Education Project (INSTEP) is an example of a professional learning and development initiative designed to improve teacher educator knowledge and practice. This paper examines how inservice teacher educators changed their practice using evidence of teacher and student outcomes as they worked with them. The challenge of how systems build the capability of facilitators so that they can engage teachers in substantive new learning and practice is highlighted as an important area for further investigation.
